City Began to Clean Ciliwung Rivulet

Clogged by trash, dozens of officers were deployed to clean trash along Ciliwung rivulet.

As many as 20 freelancers (PHL) were deployed to clean the trash manually

 

Water Cleanliness Management Unit Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Junjungan Sihombing said, illegal building along Ciliwung rivulet hampered the trash transportation from the area because heavy equipment can't be used.

"As many as 20 freelancers (PHL) were deployed to clean the trash manually," he uttered.

 

Relaying on Beritajakarta.com, the workers were equipped by shovel and other manual equipments to pick up trash and dry it on the road before transported by truck.

 

There also mud sedimentation in the area which makes the activity more difficult. "We could use boat if the river is deeper than it," he uttered.

 

However, he can’t be sure when his side could transport all trash in Ciliwung. "What is important now that we work with our best effort, at least to reduce the trash," he disclosed.
